Bologna, Italy
Bologna [buh-lohn-yah], with 380,000 people living in the city, is home to the oldest Western university, the University of Bologna.
The more than 100,000 students enrolled at the university face incredible academic pressures due to the rigorous testing. Along with pressure to succeed academically, students are faced with a 10% reported unemployment rate. Many students must leave the country to find a job after graduation.
Most importantly, students are overwhelmed with a sense of spiritual apathy. Although older generations may associate with God, young people view spirituality as an interest of their grandparents. Fewer than 1% of Italians truly know Jesus Christ
